New ADU Plans Released

Marina’s Accessory Dwelling Unit plans have been released and the Marina Planning Commission will review them Thursday. You can view the plans here. The meeting will take place in the City Council chambers at 6:30 p.m. You can also view the meeting through Zoom. Details are below.

In addition to a prevention of the new ADU rules, the commission will discuss a few issues in the Sea Haven and Dunes developments.

At the Dunes Development, the commission will consider approving a variance to develop rear yard retaining walls that are taller than normally allowed under Marina’s municipal code. Normally, the walls could only be 9-feet high, however, the developer is asking for a variance allowing walls up to over 13 feet high.

The change is deemed necessary because of some changes made to preserve trees and the variance is set for approval.

Over at Sea Haven, developers have asked for variances for setbacks on 15 properties. These are irregularly shaped lots and and builders want to increase the maximum front yard set back from 20 feet to 32 feet. The change is needed so that the houses can be configured with 20-feet parking pads that don’t block a fire lane.

City Council Stuff

The Aug. 21 City Council meeting was canceled. The next meeting is scheduled Sept. 4. No agenda has been released yet and isn’t due for more than a week.

Imjin Parkway Update

Unfortunately, PG&E is behind in installing utility poles and that will delay work to reopen Preston Drive. Preston Drive now isn’t expected to be reopened until late September.

Homes for Sale

Several homes have come on the market this week. A home on Abrams Drive for $1,125,000; another on Telegraph Boulevard for $895,000 and a small, entry-level home on Eddy Street for $709,000. See them here.
